At Maven Thread, we're happy to offer not only a wide selection of women's exercise headbands, but also numerous other apparel, from exercise pants and joggers to tops, swimwear, loungewear and many other options. We know our clients may have varying different body shapes and types, and it's our pride to provide products for each and every one of them. In this two part blog series, we'll go over some of the most common specific body shape needs our clients often bring up to us, plus some basic recommendations we can make on active wear for each of them.
Many women fall into the category of what's known as the pear shape, meaning the widest part of your body is below your waist in the hip area. The pear shape doesn't refer to weight level, necessarily -- rather, it relates to body proportions. Generally, pear shape women have small waists, but thicker hips and thighs.
Many active wear items should work well for the pear shape figure -- leggings, tights, shapewear pants, skirts and exercise shorts are all excellent choices. Leggings may be worn as pants or under other garments to give more coverage and control to the hips and thighs. Tights are perfect for colder weather, and can be worn as pants or under a skirt or dress. Shapewear pants will help to suck in your waist and flatter your curves, while skirts and exercise shorts will provide more freedom of movement.
When it comes to color, ideally pear-shaped women will chose brighter shades and prints for their tops, then plain or darker colors on the bottom. This will help to create a visual balance and draw attention up to the top half of your body. Patterns are also a good choice, as they distract from problem areas.
The rectangular body shape, on the other hand, refers to one where your shoulders, waist and pelvis are all roughly similar in terms of width. Many with this body shape will prefer active wear with rounded seams, which don't accentuate narrow hips or minimize large ones. It's also often a good idea to wear clothes that are looser in the bottom half, with tapered legs and contoured seams down there as well.
For rectangular shape women, color is usually best when it comes to tops -- choose bright colors, prints and patterns. Solid colors can also work, but they may make you look a little too boxy. When it comes to the bottom half of your body, darker colors and slimming patterns are often best.
The hourglass shape is one where your hips and shoulders are about the same width, with a smaller waistline. This body type is considered to be the ideal, since it's naturally slimming. Women with this shape are often able to wear standard sizes or smaller.
For women with hourglass body shapes, plain exercise pants and shorts tend to be best -- they provide much more versatility than tights or leggings. Skirts can also work well, provided they have a high waist and don't flare out. Tops should be fitted, but not too tight, and should preferably have some kind of detail or embellishment around the waist to draw attention to that area.
When it comes to color, Hourglass women often look best in earth tones like black, navy blue, green and khaki. These colors help to create a slimming effect.
In the next blog post in this series, we'll go over active wear for women with different body types. For more on any of our active wear products and how to make the best selection for you, speak to the team at Maven Thread today.
]]>At Maven Thread, we're proud to offer a variety of sports bras and other active wear for women, including women's sports headbands, tops and numerous other items. In today's part two of our series, we'll go over several other common questions we get about these important supportive products, plus some general tips on how to choose the ideal sports bra for the sorts of activities you take part in.
When it comes to fit and determining proper sizes, sports bras are a bit different from regular bras. They need to be form-fitting but NOT too tight, and of course they should provide support for your breasts while you're exercising. This is why it's always best to get help from an expert in assessing which sports bra will work best for your needs if at all possible.
If you're purchasing a sports bra on your own, the primary goal of a sports bra is to prevent bouncing and similar movement. This is the main area where sports bras and regular bras differ most: The goal of a sports bra is to provide more firm support, while the goal of a traditional bra you'd wear under normal clothing is not to constrict movement but rather let your breasts move freely within it.
Naturally, appearance is an important factor for many women when selecting sports bras. Bra manufacturers know this, and as such they offer a range of styles that cover the spectrum from full coverage to revealing (and even padded).
If you're concerned about how your breasts will look in sports bras, it's important to remember that there is no such thing as an "unflattering" bra – only styles and designs that work well for certain body types and not others. As such, it's best to purchase a sports bra that fits properly and that you feel comfortable in. If you purchase one that doesn't fit correctly, your breasts will look misshapen or saggy regardless of the style or design of the bra itself!
Finally, the material you choose for your sports bra should be a consideration you give a great deal of weight. When it comes to sports bras, buying a high-quality product is worth the extra money as opposed to shopping for the cheaper option – quality fabrics tend to last longer and provide better compression overall.
In general, cotton is considered a poor choice for sports bras because it offers little support and it doesn't wick moisture away from the skin. Instead, you'll want to look for a material that is light, breathable and absorbs sweat effectively. You might also consider buying two or more sports bras in different colors so that when one is being washed you have another to wear during your activities!

Whether you're using them for cardio workouts, heavier exercise or even types like yoga or Pilates, here are some answers to common questions regarding sports bras and how to choose the ideal option for yourself.
For those newer to the fitness realm, you may wonder why a sports bra is necessary. Simply put, this is a vital piece of clothing for those looking to work out, as it offers a supportive and comfortable structure that may otherwise be missing.
For women especially, this is necessary because the breasts tend to move in various directions if not properly supported. It isn't recommended that women go without sports bras during exercise due to the potential effects on the breasts' ligaments and tissue.
Absolutely. Sports bras come in several different types that depend primarily on the sort of activity you'll be doing. The qualities that make a good sports bra for running will differ from those that are best for swimming or even weightlifting, so it's important to understand what you're trying to accomplish with your workout before putting together your wardrobe.
On the other hand, there are some commonalities that most sports bras have in terms of design. The majority of women's workout bras will feature at least some degree of compression, which works to flatten and support breasts during heavy activity or while you're exercising in warmer temperatures. Additionally, there are certain attributes that many sports bra designs have, such as flat seams for added comfort and adjustable straps for customizable sizing.
This is one question where the answer will depend heavily on the individual and their exercise habits. If you're a dedicated crossfitter, for instance, you may want to own several of these bras so that you can rotate them out as needed.
On the other hand, if you don't exercise very often or are just starting your fitness routine with lighter cardio or weightlifting exercises, one or two quality options will be enough. This is especially true when you consider that sports bras come in a range of prices, from super affordable to premium quality.
In part two of our series, we'll go over how to select the ideal sports bra for your needs, plus some basics on maintaining sports bras and alternative uses for them. To learn about these products or any of our women's athletic headbands or other equipment, speak to the staff at Maven Thread today.
]]>As we move into the fall and winter season, we want to share some of the best ways to style your sports headbands.
For Quick & Cute Hairstyling
The possibilities are endless for hairstyling with headbands. The classic approach places the band at your hairline or an inch or so beyond. However, you can double (or triple) wrap for a high or low ponytail, messy bun or the new classic “nest” look.
For Keeping Your Ears Warm
If you’re heading out early in the day or staying out into the evening, you are bound to encounter some crisp – potentially cold – temperatures. Simply tuck your ears into your headband and they will stay toasty warm. Keep a couple of self-warming packs in your bag and pop those under the band if it gets too nippy.
As a Way to Hide Your Regrowth
If you haven’t been to the salon lately, use headbands to cover your roots and regrowth. You’ll have a cute style, your hair will stay out of your face, and no one has to know that color isn’t 100% natural.
As a Handy & Effective Eye Mask
Want to catch a quick catnap in the car, on a plane or in the waiting room? Simply pull your headband down over your eyes and grab 40 winks. Amp up the spa vibes by applying your favorite eye serum or moisturizer first, or tucking in warm or cold gel packs or an herbal sachet.
The higher the quality of your hair accessories, the longer they will last – and the better they will look.
You can find a variety of headband widths but, this year, 2” and 4” are the hot sizes. Bow headbands are also a classic that’s making a rousing comeback.
Urban prints, camo, tie-dye and abstract prints are perfect for any season. Look for earth tones for the ideal autumn look and rich, jewel tones for winter.

Good for working or working out from home
Next big thing from Nashville
Maven Threads provides a wide variety of the best styles, colors and patterns of women’s sports headbands to mix and match with your personal style of activewear, but there is more to this misunderstood accessory than meets the fashionable eye. While there are countless personal reasons for donning a headband in the gym, at the track or on the trail, let’s focus on 3 of the unsung, but most practical uses: Keeping hair back, blocking the elements, and eliminating funk.
There is nothing more distracting or annoying during a good workout than hair in your face. Whether you are sporting wild locks or a shorter “bob,” sweaty hair sticking to or dangling in front of your face can take away from the performance or simple enjoyment of your workout. Maven Threads’ athletic headbands come in 4 inch, 2 inch, scrunchie and bow styles, suiting your need to make sure your coif stays on top of your head and out of your face, eyes and shoulders while also keeping the sweat at bay.
Earth, wind, fire and water… or in this case sand, wind, sun and rain.
Most outdoor athletic activities will involve a run-in with one, if not all, of these ever-present elements. While each offers its own unique challenge, our Maven Thread 4-inch women’s headbands provide protection from all of the above, blocking out the sun and absorbing the rain as well as repelling the sand and wind. With our huge variety of patterns, styles and colors, you’ll, of course, also be protected from the fifth element of not being seen by competitors and other traffic.
Whether you’re a cyclist, skater, kayaker or partaker in any of the multitudes of activities that require a helmet, you undoubtedly have encountered “helmet funk.”
Once the funk sets into the foam padding in your helmet, there isn’t much hope of getting it out. The best workout headbands provide an absorbent layer between your sweaty head and helmet, keeping the funk at bay.
While Maven Thread’s women’s sports headbands offer protection from distraction, the elements and unwanted odor, we also realize the importance of looking and feeling your best while enjoying your workout and provide the ultimate in fashionable colors and styles to suit your personal needs. That’s why all of our products are as fashion-forward as they are practical.

Our designs are on-trend at 4” wide and offer maximum comfort and style.
If you haven’t already gotten on board with this hair accessory craze, there’s no time like the present.
Last summer, starlets and fashionistas alike started showing up on the red carpet – and at the gym, on a coffee run, while shopping, walking the dog – wearing headbands. Unlike a lot of accessories trends, however, this one stuck, and is still sticking.
As well roll beyond the halfway point of this year, it looks like this trend will stay right with us, but with the addition of bows. Bows of all sizes, shapes, colors and styles will be popping up everywhere, but especially on hair accessories like headbands.
You can wear this fun, flattering accessory any time, anywhere. It can take you from work, to the gym, out on the town, and beyond.
Although you can place your band anywhere on your head that it’s practical and comfortable, the fashion forward crowd are wearing theirs right at the hairline, or just barely behind it. This placement works with virtually any type of hair style, from sleek and smooth to wavy, curly or whatever you like best.
As the weather turns cold this fall and into winter, wear your bow headband situated over your ears, instead of a hat or earmuffs. Katherine, the Duchess of Cambridge did exactly that herself.
Maven Thread has a vast collection of 4” bow headbands for you to choose from. If you’re looking for headbands with bows, you will find plenty of options in solid colors, stripes, polka dots, floral prints and more. We have bandana print headbands, camo, geometrics and more.
The best part is that our women’s headbands are designed for the demanding workout environment. That means they’re comfortable to wear and they keep your hair out of your way. The bow designs are made to look like you tied them yourself, but they’re actually secured with machine stitching, so they’ll always look runway-perfect.

No, they won’t text you encouraging messages when you don’t feel like working out. But they will beg you for a walk whenever they want to go out.
Plus, if you start to create a routine of going for a run or walk every morning, you can bet your doggo is going to get you up out of bed on the days you want to sleep in.
This goes without saying, but the more active the breed, the more exercise they need. Which means the more you have to get off the couch and help them burn off some energy. And when a dog doesn’t get enough exercise it can lead to behavior issues and obesity.
But your pupper doesn’t have to be the only one doing some work! Not only will the exercise be good for your health too, it can also help strengthen your dog mom / fur baby bond.
The obvious answer, and hopefully something you are already doing somewhat regularly. Dogs can be great walking and hiking companions, and they’ll love the time outside smelling all the things.
And yet, we know that not all dog breeds or personalities were made for running. If at first it’s not ideal, be patient and keep trying. Most dogs will need to be trained how to be good running companions. But if your pooch straight up refuses, don’t fret. We’ve got more ways for you to work out together below.
It’s true, you can get your daily squats in alongside your dog. Have them stand facing you and take their two front paws. As you squat down, lower their paws a few inches down with you. Then stand back up and repeat. Feel that booty burn while staring into the eyes of your beloved pup.
You’ve heard of goat yoga, but have you heard of dog yoga? Or Doga, as some call it. Yoga is great for stretching, strengthening and mindfulness, but Doga is additionally inspired by the natural happiness, healthiness and excitability of our dog friends.
For more information on how to get started with your own Doga practice, check out this post from Rover.
All you need is a toy, and you can get your dog to participate in pretty much any workout. Take burpees for example. Throw a toy for your pupper to fetch, and get in as many burpees as you can until they return. Repeat 3 - 5 times, trying to increase your number of burpees each time.
Or just hold the toy in your hand and do a quick shuffle hop from side to side, while doggo runs and jumps alongside you after the toy.
Practicing your serve is a whole lot more enjoyable when you’ve got a furry friend to fetch the balls for you. However, it’s probably not the best workout idea for dogs that like to chew the tennis balls up.
It’s summer, and it’s hot. Both you and your dog will appreciate a nice dip in the lake. And while we’re all about floating and sipping a cool drink, you could get a few laps in too. Plus it’s easier exercise on those joints, for both human and pup.
Before you start your doggo exercise regime, get yourself some workout gear that shows off the proud dog mom you are.
]]>Staying hydrated is so important, we wrote a whole blog post about it. So we really can’t emphasize enough how essential it is to pack a water bottle in your gym bag. If you are going to sweat it out, you’ve got to fill your body back up!
Speaking of sweat, if you know you are going to go hard at the gym, it’s nice to have a clean, soft sweat towel from home. Some gyms provide towels, but… not on my face. Thank u next.
Some gyms will have resistance bands you can use, but we like to take our own. It’s just easier to grab what you need when the equipment is familiar, and they take up so little room in your gym bag anyway.
Got places to be afterwards? Dry shampoo is a lifesaver if you don’t have time for the whole shower, shampoo and blow dry. Just dry any sweat around your hairline, use a couple spritzes of dry shampoo, rub it in, and you are good to go. Dove and Batiste are some of our favorite brands you can snag at the grocery store.
Also, deodorant, because duh.
We’ve always got an extra headband in our bags, just in case. There’s nothing more annoying than flyaways getting in your face and being stuck with nothing to keep them at bay.
Need a few more to keep on hand in your gym bag? Our stretchy, comfortable, sweat-wicking and stay-put headbands come in several styles and tons of fun patterns!
The music at gyms can sometimes be a bit much. We definitely prefer to have full control over the song choices. Plus, plugging in your headphones is a great way to tune out everyone around you and just focus on your movements, breathing and muscles.
A definite gym bag essential to make sure your stuff is safe and sound while you get your workout on. Combination locks are easy to travel with and not hard to find. Just don’t forget your combination! Your birthday is always a good go-to for something like this.
Got the essentials but not the bag? Our On the Go Duffel was specially designed to efficiently fit all the things you need, for both the gym and travel!
]]>Fortunately, the pandemic-fueled athleisure trend has spilled over into a much needed revamp of business casual wear. And we say it’s about time! Women know how to get sh*t done, regardless of whether they are wearing workout leggings or a pencil skirt.
That’s why near the end of last year we released our new Work Hard Play Hard Trousers! These trousers are designed with the same looser fit and comfy stretch of our joggers, but glowed up to fit in at the workplace. With pockets, belt loops and a fake zipper in front, no one will ever know you’re practically wearing sweatpants.
And since they are made with our most comfortable Luxe fabric, you can even wear them while you workout. Who’d have thought you’d ever be able to go straight from the office to the gym and not even have to change your pants?
Our trousers currently come in navy, black, olive green and our brand new light gray! Go ahead and just get yourself one of each, because we promise, once you try these you’ll never look at your old work pants the same way again.
We were so excited to bring you guys these stylish and sporty trousers to make your work days as comfortable as your workouts. And we’ve been thrilled to see how much love you have been giving them so far!
If you haven’t bought a pair yet, make sure to snag your size before they start to sell out!
]]>Starting in the gym – or while hiking, running, taking a yoga class, playing sports, etc. – a good athletic band keeps your hair out of your face. More importantly, it keeps your hair out of your eyes. These invaluable accessories also keep sweat from running down your face and getting in your eyes.
At first glance, these may seem to be convenience factors as much as anything, because nobody wants to be annoyed in that way. But, if you really think about it, these can also be safety factors. If you’re lifting weights, jogging outdoors or trying to hit a fast-flying softball, for instance, even the briefest loss of vision can cause you to get hurt.
Outside the gym, wearing an exercise headband can provide the same advantages. You might wear one while driving your car with the window or the top down, for example, while doing some house cleaning, or while working on a craft project.
Fashion accessories are one of the most effective (and most affordable) ways to add personality to your wardrobe. In the gym, headbands are one of the few practical ways to add flair to your workout gear. Outside the gym, you can use headbands to accessorize virtually any type of outfit.
Choosing colors and patterns that express your personality is a great way to show the world who you are. From camo and animal prints to inspirational and fantasy gym headbands, you can find just the right statement to match your mood on any given day.
Wearing a headband can protect your delicate and sensitive ears from winter’s cold and summer’s harsh sun. If you choose a wider design (4 inches is optimal), you can also keep your forehead well protected. A wider band also lets you tuck in small hand warmer packs for even more wintertime comfort.
These benefits are ideal for walking, jogging and playing sports outdoors, but you can carry those benefits way beyond your exercise routine. Wear them when you take the kids to the park or the zoo, or when you’re doing work in the yard (bonus points if you’re shoveling snow!).
You wouldn’t think of compromising the quality of your moisture-wicking workout gear or well-fitting athletic shoes. To get the most out of your head bands, take a moment to find the best exercise headbands.
At Maven Thread, our ultra soft and stretchy bands feature four-way stretch that holds them firmly in place without pinching, pulling or causing a headache. These 4” wide headbands wick moisture too, just like high-end workout clothing. Best of all, they’re highly affordable and long lasting, delivering you maximum value at a surprising low cost.

]]>However, most of us don’t drink as much water during the day as we should. Building new healthy habits can be difficult, so if you need to up your water intake, here are a few tips to help.
Whether you use an app or just mark it in a notebook, keep track of how much water you drink throughout the day. Not only does it provide a visual reminder, but you’ll also be able to easily see if you’ve fallen behind and need to pick up the water pace.
There are also plenty of water bottles out there with time and volume measurements to help you stay on track. This half gallon one has been making the rounds on TikTok.
If you don’t like plain water, or just get tired of it, try adding some flavor. You can try different fresh fruit infusions, like lemon, cucumber, basil or orange. Or if you need something quick, look at your grocery store for flavor packets or drops. Just be sure and check the sugar amount in the nutrition facts.
Try to attach drinking a glass of water to routine activities you already do every day. A glass at mealtimes is an obvious example, but you could also have one first thing when you wake up, or fill up your cup right before your daily 9:30 AM standup.
It can be so easy to go an hour or two without drinking any water if you are out and about running errands. Bring a bottle on the go and it will be right there with you reminding you to drink while you are busy getting stuff done.
Sometimes when our bodies are thirsty it can feel the same as hunger. But before you reach for a snack, try drinking a glass of water instead. If the hunger goes away, you really were just thirsty. If it persists, then it’s time to grab that healthy snack.
Your body loses a ton of water through sweat when working out. Make sure to drink some 20-30 minutes before you exercise, then drink water throughout your workout, and have another glass when done.
Just remember babes, creating new habits is a process. So just take it day by day and build up that water consumption as you go!
]]>In broad terms, drinking enough water is vital for your body to function optimally. Water lubricates your joints, regulates your body temperature, and is essential for all of your organs to do their thing. Low hydration levels can even affect your mood and concentration.
When it comes to working out, water is crucial to maximizing performance. If you aren’t drinking enough water you will feel fatigued and lose motivation more quickly. Insufficient hydration can actually make your workout feel harder, which is something no one needs.
Not to mention, drinking lots of water also promotes weight loss. Some studies have suggested it can help boost your metabolism, while others have shown that drinking water before meals can help reduce calorie intake. Plus, drinking enough water actually reduces water weight and bloating.
Want your skin to have that healthy glow? Drink more water. Proper hydration helps skin elasticity, reduces dryness and improves complexion.
As discussed above, staying hydrated is about so much more than just avoiding dehydration. But we’d be remiss to share information about drinking water without covering dehydration.
The short definition of dehydration is when you aren’t drinking enough fluids for your body to function properly. Symptoms can include dry lips and mouth, feeling dizzy or lightheaded, headache, and fatigue or irritability. Obviously these are things you generally want to avoid.
Perhaps the best way to check your hydration level is the color of your urine. If it’s light or almost clear, you’re doing great with your water intake. If it’s dark and more opaque, you’ve got some work to do.
Thankfully, dehydration is pretty easy to remedy - just drink some fluids. Extreme dehydration (sunken eyes, low blood pressure, increased heart rate) may require extra medical attention, but if you are simply behind on your liquids for the day, just drink some water, gatorade or clear broth. Avoid soda, coffee, energy drinks, and other beverages with caffeine.
Drinking water is particularly important when working out, because our bodies lose a ton of fluids when we sweat. Especially if you live in a high altitude area, or are exercising outside in the heat.
So any time you workout, go for a hike, or take an exercise class, it’s super important to bring a water bottle with you. If exercise is a regular part of your daily routine, then drinking enough water should be too!
However, the best way to stay adequately hydrated is to drink plenty of water throughout the day, not just chug some after your workout. A good general rule is the more you sweat, the more you drink!
The truth is, 8 glasses a day may not be right for everyone. It’s easy to remember and a great goal to work towards, but really everyone’s optimal water amount will be different.
The amount of water you need to drink will be impacted by how much you exercise, the environment you live in, other health conditions, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Recommendations differ, but The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine recommends 15.5 cups per day for men and 11.5 cups per day for women. However, that also includes any water you may get through foods and other beverages, so your diet is another factor to consider.
In general, if you rarely feel thirsty and your urine is light, then you are drinking enough water. If not, then try adding another glass or two to your daily water intake.
Want more on water? Keep an eye out for tips for staying hydrated in our next post!

]]>But if you are stuck in the same workout rut, here are some outdoor exercise ideas to get you thinking outside the box gym.
The obvious choice, but no less of a good option. Running is an incredible cardio workout for burning calories and reducing stress. Or if you need low impact, a good long walk helps stretch your legs and get your muscles moving.
Yoga works your posture, flexibility and strength while also allowing for some mindfulness and quiet meditation. Morning yoga is great for starting your day with energy and focus, but if you aren’t a morning person, whenever yoga works too.
One of the advantages of circuit training is it really can be done anywhere. All you need is a fitness mat and maybe a set of dumbbells, which should be easy to locate if you’ve been working out at home all this time.
Get off that Peloton and onto a real bike. Like running, cycling is good cardio exercise, but it’s also killer for shaping those thighs and booty. Bicycles were almost impossible to find at the beginning of the pandemic, but should be more available to you now!
Hiking is another low-impact exercise, but with all the elevation changes you’ll typically get more of a leg workout than you would from going on a walk around your neighborhood. Not to mention, hitting those hiking trails will get you out of the city and into nature, which is always a good break for your mental health too.
If you are lucky enough to live near a body of water, check out your options for renting a kayak or paddle board. Both will give your arms and shoulders a good workout, as well as your abs and back.
Get your COVID pod together for a little friendly competition. Volleyball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, it doesn’t matter what, just as long as you are moving. You’ll have so much fun, you won’t even realize you are working out.
]]>Our guess is your spare bedroom turned office / gym / craft room could use a bit of an organizational refresh at this point. We’ve been feeling inspired lately to reorganize with these space-saving home gym storage hacks!

We especially love how the pink stripes painted on this DIY board add some extra fun and personality!

Shoe racks aren’t just great for organization in your closet or entryway. The compact shelves won’t take up too much floor space in your workout area, but have just the right amount of storage for dumbbells, gym shoes, a notebook and whatever else you need.

You’ve probably seen these brightly colored carts on Pinterest or Instagram at least a few times by now. Three compact compartments provide lots of space to hold all your workout essentials, and the carts come in a variety of fun shades so you’re sure to find one that fits your vibe. And since it’s on wheels, it can easily be tucked away and out of sight!

When you’ve fallen off the bandwagon, getting yourself into a new workout routine can be tough. Fortunately, there are a few tricks you can use to help train your brain to actually want to workout. Sounds almost too good to be true, right?
]]>Fortunately, there are a few tricks you can use to help train your brain to actually want to workout. Sounds almost too good to be true, right?
But it’s completely doable. Try these steps below, and just remember to keep at it!
Giving yourself positive reinforcement after working out can help provide the motivation you need to get started.
You can set small goals and reward yourself once they are reached, perhaps with a new pair of running sneakers or exercise pants.
Or it can be as simple as giving yourself a mental high-five for a workout well done. Don’t forget to celebrate progress, not strive for perfection.
Once exercise becomes a habit, you can rely on those endorphins and regular health benefits to convince your brain it’s time to get moving.
Did you know you can actually build up your willpower?
Finding the motivation to do something big, like a good sweat session, takes more willpower than something small, say, wiping down your kitchen countertops.
But by exerting the willpower to do the small things, and doing them consistently, can help build up your willpower to do the big things.
So start with a chore you can do everyday, like making the bed or not leaving dirty dishes in the sink, and start training your brain to overcome those objections.
We know you guys know that working out is good for you (why else would you be reading this blog?).
But exercise doesn’t just help trim fat and build muscle. It also provides a ton of benefits for your brain.
Working out releases serotonin and dopamine, which make you feel good and helps give you the drive to keep going. So even just taking that first step can be the motivation you need.
Beyond just that, according to Women’s Health Magazine, exercise increases the blood flow to your brain and creates proteins that contribute to positive thoughts about working out.
Long story short, the more you workout, the better your brain feels about it, and the easier it becomes for you to get started.
Sometimes we set high expectations for ourselves, leaving us feeling discouraged and defeated when we don’t meet them.
But the thing is, working out does not have to be one specific routine or look one certain way.
Different workouts, times and methods can work for you. If you stick yourself to one class or one program, you lose the ability to adjust when routines get disrupted.
Don’t get me wrong, routine is important to establishing a good workout regime. But when things get thrown off, you should be able to go with the flow, instead of just giving up.
And a big part of that is cutting ourselves some slack from time to time. Not slacking off, but just having patience and grace for ourselves and our bodies when we feel like we aren’t progressing fast enough, or we run late for a class, or gain a couple pounds back.
Improving your health is a journey. But we promise if you just keep trying, and use some of these tricks to train your brain, you will see progress!
]]>Colder temperatures always have us wanting to ditch the salads and reach for some warm comfort foods. Unfortunately, many classic winter dishes tend to be on the heavy side and full of not-the-best-for-you ingredients.
]]>So, we’ve rounded up just a few of our go-to lean winter recipes that are good for you, but will still satisfy those cozy food cravings.

Chile-lime Salmon Tacos
Not only do these tacos taste amazing, they also make a super quick and easy weeknight meal. Just season, broil, assemble, and boom, you’re eating well.
Tacos are not always a healthy option, especially if you pair them with a big bowl of chips. But this recipe calls for corn tortillas and no cheese, which helps keep the amount of fat low.
And with the spice of the chili powder and the zesty lime, you won’t feel like you’re missing out on anything.

Quinoa Vegetable Soup
This soup recipe from Delish is the perfect dish for a hearty Meatless Monday meal without having to load up on pasta or rice.
Why we love it: Quinoa is a supergrain full of protein and fiber, and even has anti-inflammatory properties. And while this recipe calls for carrots, celery and zucchini, it’s super versatile and can be made with whatever your favorite veggies are.
Vegetarian not your style? While the cannellini beans add plenty of protein and will help fill you up, it’s easy to modify this recipe. Just cook 1 pound of lean ground chicken or italian sausage and add with the broth.

Green Chili Turkey Burgers
Fire up the grill (or grill pan. Let’s be real, it’s cold outside), because you are going to want to make these burgers from EatingWell.
This recipe is a winner because lean ground turkey has less fat than beef, but the kick from the pepper jack cheese and green chilies provides tons of flavor.
Plus it calls for whole wheat tortillas instead of buns, which contain more nutrients and less fiber than regular white burger buns. Of course, you can easily swap the tortilla for a gluten-free bun or lettuce wrap.
And to go dairy free, simply skip the cheese and substitute a dairy-free sour cream. Kite Hill has a great almond milk-based sour cream that barely tastes any different, and it’s sold at most Target locations.

]]>We're giving you a sneak peek into some of our products coming up in 2021 and the creative team behind how they get printed, shipped and marketed to you!
We're starting Kristin - co-founder and Creative Director!
Q: Where do you get the inspiration for your patterns/designs?
I look at the world around me, one time I was driving down the road and saw a bridge that had a cool pattern and that was the inspiration for a geometric print we created. I also love all things art and follow a lot of art and interior design accounts on instagram. That is often where I find inspiration for patterns and shapes. With our headbands we can get a little more creative and I love to look at what people are interested in and their hobbies and find cool/trendy ways to make a headband that would speak to that. For example in 2021 we are coming out with a cat and a dog print because we know how much pet owners love their four legged buddies!
Q: Can you give a top-secret super sneak-peek into some of your favorite collections to watch out for this year?
A new twist on everyone’s favorite moons pattern, and then a tank with a built in bra inside it!🙌🏻
Q: What are your favorite MT products in 2021 & why?
My favorite favorite right now is our Trousers! I wear them almost every day. They have been the perfect transition back to real life after Covid lockdowns when I only wore our joggers. They make me feel put together while also feeling comfy.
Another favorite is definitely the new tank tops that will come this summer! They are so soft and also cute! I really love wearing patterns on top and solids on bottom, and since I don’t typically wear just a sports bra when I exercise I loved the idea of having cute print tank tops. But it is so hard to find a cute patterned tank, so I’m excited to remedy that problem with our fun/trendy patterns and comfy, but performance fabric tank tops!

Often our resolutions fail from lack of motivation. However, making the right resolutions is equally as important to our ability to keep them. So as you look forward to the year ahead, here are some tips for setting healthy New Year’s resolutions you can achieve!
If there are right resolutions, then what makes a resolution wrong? The most common mistakes people make when setting their resolutions is being too vague or not establishing a plan for achievement. Resolutions are also tough to stick to if we base them off of what someone else or society tells us we should be, and not what we truly want to be.
Ever head of the acronym SMART for goal-setting? There are some slight variations out there, but typically it stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-based. Any target you set, whether for your health, career or personal life, should be SMART. So let’s look at each of these a little deeper:
Setting a resolution you really care about requires some thought. If you try to pick something on a whim, you’re going to end up influenced by how you are feeling just at that moment. Spend some time reflecting on all aspects of your health - mental, physical, relational, financial, spiritual, emotional - and think about what changes you would truly like to see.
Establishing your resolution is just the start. What you really need to do to follow through is create a plan. Whether it’s outlining a new routine, joining a new workout class, or picking an accountability buddy, it’s important to lay out the steps to success.
2021 is looking up, babes. With some thoughtful SMART goals and your Vibe Tribe behind you, there’s nothing you can’t accomplish this new year!
]]>Just as the song starts with the 1st day of Christmas, then the 2nd and the 1st, and keeps building from there, this workout does the same. So start with the first move, then the second and the first again, then the third and the second and first, and you get the idea.
If you really want to get in the holiday mood, play some Christmas music while you workout.
On the first day of Christmas my Vibe Tribe gave to me...
A tuck jump with a burpee
2 squat and front kicks
3 pushups
4 reverse lunges
5 second plank hold
6 ski jumps
7 glute abductions
8 reverse crunches
9 tricep dips
10 spider planks
11 jumping jacks
12 mountain climbers
Unfamiliar with some of these moves? Read on for some handy descriptions.
Tuck jump with a burpee: Everyone loves burpees, right? To do a burpee, start from standing and squat all the way down with your palms on the floor in front of your knees. Then hop your legs out to a high plank. Hop your legs back into squat. From here, jump up into a tuck jump, meaning you bring your knees up towards your chest as high as you can in your jump.
Ski jumps: Stand with your feet together. Bend your knees slightly and lean your back forward while swinging your elbows straight back (like you are a downhill skier). Swing your arms forward and jump up, landing in the same bending position on the other side. You can jump over your mat or a towel or anything else that helps.
Glute abductions: Lay on the mat on your back with your knees bent and feet flat on the ground. Tuck your booty up, raising it off the mat as high as you can. Hold this position while you push your knees out and squeeze them back in together. You should feel this in your glutes and inner thighs.
Reverse crunches: Lay on the mat on your back with your legs together and straight up in the air. Using your ab muscles, lift your booty off the mat and your feet up over your head. Avoid swinging your legs too much. For extra challenge, twist your hips alternating sides while lifting to work the obliques.
Tricep dips: Get in the table top position, or crab walk position (ie. on your hands and feet but facing up, booty lifted). Bend your elbows to lower yourself slightly and raise back up. Keep your booty off the mat, and make sure your elbows are bending straight back, not out to the sides.
Spider planks: From a high plank position, bring your knee out to the side and up to your elbow. Alternate legs each time.
]]>While you may be tempted to just count November and December as a loss and pick back up the healthy habits in January, there is another way. You can have your cake and eat it too, without surrendering to the typical holiday weight gain. Just follow these steps!
Staying active during this season is particularly important. Not only will exercise help counteract any over indulging, it will also keep you from snacking on leftovers, at least for an hour or so.
If you don’t want to lose time with family, turn it into a group activity. Go for a long walk together around the neighborhood, play a game of flag football in the backyard, or do a yoga class together in the living room. Both your body and your relationships will thank you.
Leftovers and treats tend to abound near the holidays. If self-restraint isn’t your strong suit, try putting the treats up high or out of sight. Before you reach for a snack, ask yourself if you are really hungry, or just eating because it’s there.
Eat full, balanced meals so you are less likely to want to snack throughout the day. If you do need a little something between meals to get by, opt for a healthier option like fruit or nuts. When you do want something sweet, just monitor and limit how much.
The busyness of the holiday season can lead to more stress and less sleep, both of which will leave you feeling tired. And when we’re tired, we tend to eat more and workout less. So protect that sleep schedule, and make sure you are getting enough peaceful me time to keep the stress levels down.
Wine, hot cocoa and eggnog are holiday staples for most families, but they are mostly empty calories with a lot of sugar. But that doesn’t mean you can enjoy, or should feel guilty for every glass of wine you drink.
Just try to limit how often, and how much. Pour smaller glasses, and alternate with glasses of water. Set a max for how much you have in one night. And watch out for the late night alcohol-fueled munchies.
One of the best things you can do to prevent extra holiday weight gain is to start preparing a couple weeks before. Step up your workout routine and water intake at least a week before your holiday gatherings. You should also eat healthy meals and limit sweets and alcohol.
Following healthier habits leading up to the holiday indulgences will help your body balance out the extra intake of calories.
Babes, you can do this. Have that cookie and a mug of hot cocoa, just balance it out with plenty of healthy foods and exercise. As long as you commit to these tips, and say no to the occasional dessert or cocktail, there’s no reason you can’t beat the extra holiday weight gain.
]]>Too excited to know where to start? Here are a few pieces that will help you get your winter workouts going:
Baby, it’s cold outside. Which is why we love our new windbreakers, including this one in white marble. The polyester and spandex mix will protect you from the wind, while still providing a slight stretch and breathable comfort. The torso drawstring also allows for as much, or as little, waist definition as you want.
A warm headband is another must if you are going to be exercising, or really doing any activity, outside in the chilly winter temps. Our winter headbands are soft, stretchy and comfortable like our standard 4” headbands, but have three layers of fabric to keep your ears warm. Plus they make great stocking stuffers!
You know those dreary winter weather days? Well, there’s no way they can get you down when you are wearing these leggings. Buttery smooth with bright rainbow stripes down each leg, you’ll bring the sunshine with you wherever you go. Complete the set with the Rainbow Flow Sports Bra.
